The Defense Security and Security Organization (DBBO) is part of the Dutch armed forces. The DBBO was established on January 1, 2011. This organization is a so-called 24-hour company (full continuous operation) and falls under the Defense Support Command.
Before the arrival of the DBBO, the Defense units themselves were responsible for the security and surveillance of their objects. By placing the surveillance and security tasks within 1 central organization, a uniform working method is used throughout the Defense organization. The occasion for the establishment of the DBBO is the Decision-making Memorandum (BVM) 2008 measure 1-10, in which a start was made to make all the security and security tasks within Defense into one organization.
The DBBO is responsible for the execution of the security and security duties within the Ministry of Defense (National Act on the Use of Violence by Guards of Military Objects). As a second main task, the DBBO advises on organizational, structural and electronic (OBE) security measures for the entire Defense organization.
