These pictures show my Dutch steel helmet model 53 "Troepenhelm" it is a USA M1helmet clone.
This model has been used by the Dutch army from 1953 upto the mid 90ties.
I found a lot of information about this helmet on http://dutchhelmets.nl
This troepenhelm model 1953 was used by KMAR
KMAR = Koninklijke Marechaussee
Google translates this in Royal Military Police but they do a lot more like border protection, airport security,
protection of military installations.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Marechaussee
The Koninklijke Marechaussee, the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee, abbreviated to KMar, is one of the four Services of the armed forces of the Netherlands. It is a gendarmerie force performing military police and civil police duties.
I also have in my collection a beret worn by the KMAR in the seventies:
Beret Koninklijke Marechaussee
My helmet is made in 1958 by the German company Linnemann-Schnetzer.
See the inscription LS58 B5
B5 is a lot code

The stamp shows: "KONTROLE 637, 1stHrstCie", the 637, 1st Herstel Compagnie = Control 637 First Repair Company
Here were the turned in duffel bags by the conscripted soldiers, after their service in the army, checked/sorted and washed.
For more about Conscription see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conscription
In The Netherlands Constription is still in the Law but since 1997 no one is drafted into active service anymore.
continued at 1958 KMar part 2
