Description: Metal-embossed, new silver oak leaf edging. In the middle the oak leaf border is a stylized battle tank.
Meaning: representation and symbolism correspond - apart from the flag -
unchanged from today's armored troop category.
The 1971 first edition of the beret badge was approved with berets initially only introduced for tanks, reconnaissance aircraft, paratroopers and fighters.
Until the revision in the early 1980s, the badge shown here was the tank troop also carried by soldiers of the tank reconnaissance troop.
Differences to today's troop type badge are the use of another silver tone as well as the one not yet admitted at that time German flag at the bottom.
Military unit badge of the Paratroopers and Jägertruppe, essentially today's same, but initially did not have a flag either.
